Create the Culture You Want

We think of culture as a given:  How to merge two cultures in an aquisition, or how to deal with the existing culture in a company...

But events and changing conditions, either external or internal, create the opportunity to develop a culture for the times.  It requires constant communication and discipline, but once accomplished, can result in an organization filled with people who are fired up and know what they need to do to take on the competition.

Our belief, based on our own experience, is that a collaborative culture is the best, for the following reasons:

    • People at all levels of the organization learn to identify problems and to seek solutions.
    • It sets the framework for a "No surprises" rule.
    • Managers help set the goals, and, together with their employees, determine the implementation.  This eliminates both unworkable solutions and stonewalling.
    • While this process slows down the front end somewhat, it speeds up the implementation process - sometimes by a factor of ten.
